“One of the finest big band sounds in Silicon Valley”
A Touch of Brass is a 20-piece band, including 2 vocalists, featuring some of the most exciting and talented musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area.
For nearly three decades, A Touch of Brass has been entertaining jazz audiences in the San Francisco Bay Area with their driving big band sounds and scintillating vocals. A Touch of Brass is led by lead trumpeter Ed Morrison, whose musical journey has spanned 50 years performing with some of the biggest names in the music business. This 20 piece jazz ensemble includes two seasoned vocalists–Juliet Green and Joey Coray–as well as some of the finest musicians in the South Bay.
The ensemble has played at First Night Santa Cruz, Senzala Restaurant, Nestle Corp, Hills Bros. Coffee, Del Monte Corp., Theatre on San Pedro Square, SF Chamber Symphony and at past Summer Fests. They’ve also been featured in many Christmas and gospel jazz concerts and summer concert series. A Touch of Brass has three recordings to its credit, and in recent years has been involved in educational programs at many Bay Area schools.
Their Summer Fest set will feature participants chosen from the San Jose Jazz-sponsored Jazz Jam at the Hedley led by drummer Stephen Marley. The Jam is a great jazz scene and a prime opportunity for area musicians to hone their craft and make the kinds of connections that have given rise to many of the bands on the Silicon Valley Stage.
