Wind music has a long tradition in Austria. On this medium is growing at the university of arts for several year s a new species of Blechblaskultur - the AUSTRIAN BRASS BAND.Consisting of 34 young aspiring professional musicians, this ensemble strives for new shores of wind music. The brass band culture, which is widely used in the UK, Benelux and Scandinavia have grown as a music genre in Austria still considered a secret. The ABB plays the most demanding brass band literature at the highest level. On offer is a diverse repertoire of symphonic arrangements, original compositions and entertaining program music. Thus, the ABB light entertainment amusing music pays tribute to the same music as the literary canon of serious art music.Estimates are, however, the professional playing and intense joy of making music.
