Oxfordshire's oldest brass band plays weddings, fetes, concerts and contests all year round. We've been training new players and performing for 125 years!

COSB competes in the third section of the Regional Championships, and with three bands to choose from, players of any standard can find a niche that suits them; but at every level, our primary focus is on enjoying ourselves making music together.

We have players of all standards, and welcome enquiries from new players.

The City of Oxford Silver Band plays all kinds of brass band music, from marches through popular and classical tunes to jazz. We are available to book for all occasions, including village fetes, weddings, private parties and carols. COSB competes in the third section of the Regional Championships, and with three bands to choose from, players of any standard can find a niche that suits them; but at every level, our primary focus is on enjoying ourselves making music together.

We have players of all standards, and welcome enquiries from new players. Our beginners’ band meets once a week on a Monday evening, and has players aged from 8 to 80: most are playing brass for the first time, some new to music altogether. We offer tuition for absolute beginners upwards and have a wide range of instruments – from the cornet to the mighty tuba – for members to borrow and use. It’s a great and economical way to introduce youngsters to music, or for adults to try turning their hand to something completely different.

By the way… many of our players have brass-coloured instruments – the colour silver isn’t essential!
