Mid-Missouri's flagship brass band. Traditional brass band instrumentation with a very non-traditional approach.
In 2005, The Collegiate Shag started as a Jazz Ensemble at the University of Missouri-Columbia inspired by The Dirty Dozen and Youngblood Brass Band. The idea hasn't changed since the inception: good music, big brass. With original tunes inspired by wide- ranged influences from Queen, Nobuo Uematsu, Grover Washington Jr. and James Brown, as well as covers of Tito Puente, The Seatbelts, Trombone Shorty, and Ozomatli, Columbia's flagship brass band is up and out, live and loud.
