Welcome to MRCBB

____________________________________

The Moss Rose Community Brass Band was formed in November 2009 and is based on the Moss Rose Estate in Macclesfield, Cheshire.  The Band aims to provide an opportunity for people living on the estate and in surrounding areas to learn something new while enjoying the social side of making music together.

Anyone over the age of 12 can join. Few of our current members have had any previous musical experience before joining the band. Instruments and group tuition are provided and membership is free.

Most of us start out in the section of the Band run by Liz, who makes sure we know which end of our instruments to blow down and which way up to hold them!  It used to be called the “Training Band”, but it has now progressed to being a full band in its own right and has played at several Music Festivals.  However, it still caters for those who join as complete beginners or for those who prefer playing in a smaller group - enthusiasm and the desire to learn to play are the only qualifications.

The second part of the band is run by Tom, and while most of us who play in that are also near beginners, some of the music can be a bit more of a challenge.  The important things about both bands is the underlying ethic in that we are a community band - for us, the fun of participation is more important than winning competitions.

It’s not called playing music for nothing - it’s supposed to be play, not work!

We meet every Wednesday at 7.30pm at Ash Grove Primary School, Belgrave Road, Macclesfield.  We welcome new members.

If you would like to find out more about joining the band, or are interested in booking the band for an event, please get in touch - all the details are on the “contact” page.
