NSB is a band that brings to together a lot of different backgrounds, personalities and traditions. NSB in a way is a folk band meaning that our music reflects the culture we create together and geographic location. While our sound finds its roots in a mixture of mummery, jazz and gospel, it is most fairly understood as Philadelphia spoken through brass and beats.

Joining the band is Philadelphia’s New Sound Brass, who you may remember as the marching band that led the XPoNential Music Festival audience from Wiggins Park to the Susquehanna Bank Center this summer. The band also performed at 2nd Street Festival this year, opened for PhillyBloco at World Cafe Live, and generally has become renowned for its lively and crowd participatory arrangements of popular songs reimagined in the brass band tradition.
