Nidaros Brass Band was founded in 2003, by some brass band enthusiasts inTrondheim who shared a strong desire to play in a brass brand whose activity level was compatible with a busy lifestyle. By having rehearsals only every other Sunday, in addition to challenging and entertaining concerts, we have managed to maintain a capable and stable membership.

We have, the whole time, been committed to presenting music from different genres as well as possible to our audiences and we always showcase our own soloists in our concerts. We do not contest, and function purely as a concert band. The band has a good reputation as a concert band, with a lot of humour, joy of playing and high standard of musical performance.

In 2010 we recorded a CD "Nidaros". The pieces chosen are representative of both repertoire and the soloists during our 7 years. You can purchase the CD from this emailadress: cd@nidarosbrass.com.
The last 5 years the band has produced concerts for a large audience here in Trondheim. In april 2013 we celebrated our first 10 years with the concert "Domen" ("The Dome") for more than 400 listeners in Nidaros Cathedral. A fantastic evening for band and audience!
In 2011 we did a concert tour to UK, and played concerts in Kettering, Burton-on-the-Water, and together with The Cobham Band and Friary Guildford Band. A great success!

Trondheim was founded as Nidaros by Olav Tryggvason in 997, and had this name until the 17th century when the city became Trondhjem. After briefly reverting to the name Nidaros from 1930-31, the city name officially became Trondheim.
