What would it sound like if Bob Marley played trumpet in a brass band? The One Love Brass Band is one of those “only in New Orleans” experiences. Specializing in ska and roots reggae, they put a Caribbean twist on New Orleans brass music. Combining the infectious grooves of the islands with the power and charm of a New Orleans-style brass band, One Love embodies the spirit of such luminaries as The Skatalites and Bob Marley while also paying tribute to the distinctive New Orleans brass band legacy.
This is not your typical brass band. The group distinguishes itself from the countless other New Orleans brass bands that play the same repertoire over and over again. Offering a fresh take on the New Orleans brass band tradition, the band plays timeless Jamaican classics spiced up with the sheer power of brass, as well as rearranging traditional New Orleans brass band favorites with their trademark skank. The One Love Brass Band is easily the most original and innovative brass band in New Orleans!
The One Love Brass Band began when founders Kyle Cripps and Boyanna Trayanova ran into each other on Frenchmen St one night and discovered they both shared the same vision for a band. Both Kyle and Boyanna are big fans of Jamaican music. They wanted to do something different and weave ska and reggae elements into the New Orleans sound. With their shared vision, the One Love Brass band was born!
The band has been delighting audiences around town with their unique blend of Jamaican and New Orleans music. The group has quickly amassed a fan base that appreciates their novel approach. The One Love Brass Band has broad appeal, entertaining music lovers of all ages and backgrounds. Fans flock to the band’s shows, as they always prove to be a high energy dance party guaranteed to pass a good time. C’mon out to One Love’s next show and see for yourself!
