The Princeton Brass Band was founded in May 2004 and has been a NABBA member band since 2005. The band has become established as a major cultural presence in New Jersey, drawing players from Philadelphia and New York as well as New Jersey itself. In 2013 the band was crowned National Champions in Cincinnati, OH, a remarkable achievement before their tenth season. In Summer 2014 the Princeton Brass Band was Guest Artists at the Great American Brass Band Festival in Danville, KY. In the Fall of 2014 they performed their first Beatles in Brass concert to a packed-out house at Rider University, where the band has been the official ensemble-in-residence since 2008 giving two concerts a year in the Fall and Spring.

The Princeton Brass Band has performed around North America as well as in many of the major local venues. The band’s extensive You Tube archive, including their 2013 winning performances of Elgar Variations (Martin Ellerby) and Rococo Variations (Edward Gregson), constitutes a growing international resource.

The bands focus is to bring the best of traditional brass band music as well as much that is exciting and new to its audiences and to contribute to building the brass band movement at the local, national and international level. PBB’s annual Holiday Concert at the Richardson Auditorium at Princeton University is a sold-out major event in the community—their complete recent concerts are on You Tube. PBB event listings can be found on their Facebook page.

The band’s logo is of a mighty Phoenix rising from the flames of Judgment announced by trumpets from the four corners of the Earth. The band motto, ‘Resurgam’, means ‘I Shall Rise Again’.
