Big Easy in Concert - opened the New Orleans Music Festival in Bad Hersfeld with international stars.

 

At the opening of. "32 Live Jazz New Orleans Music Festival "come on September 18th international jazz stars in the Stadthalle Bad Hersfeld. In "Big Easy in Concert" there are Brenda Boykin & Jan Luley Trio, the International Cajun Trio, Wolfgang Schmidtke and N'Awlins Brass Band on stage.

New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz and home to an exciting variety of musical styles. To obtain the atmospheric flair, the joy of life and the musical variety and enjoy is the goal of all jazz and New Orleans-friends worldwide. At 32. Live Jazz New Orleans Music Festival (September 18 to 20 2015 Bad Hersfeld / Hessen) we want to bring you all of this to some extent closer and you open your ears for a unique blend of African rhythms, European wind and Military music, French dances, Baptist church music, work songs and the blues of the farm workers of the American South, which has the Jazz can arise. 


Funky Brass Band beats in the style of young brass bands in New Orleans mixed with hip-swinging Caribbean rhythms served the  n'awlins BRASS BAND  from Holland. It is one of the most authentic brass bands in this style in Europe. Where the  n'awlins BRASSBAND the party is appearing perfectly. Music of the Cajuns, the French-born immigrants in Louisiana who were expelled by the British from Canada and settled in southern Louisiana.The three musicians of  INTERNATIONAL CAJUN TRIO s kidnap her audience on an exciting musical journey through time from Brittany through Canada to the wetlands of Louisiana. To where the "Acadiens" over the centuries in the melting pot of different cultures developed the "Cajun" and "Zydeco", a lively music, jazz, country and Creole rhythms uniquely combines blues, musique francaise to a style that is traditional and modern demands. This tasty, musical menu garnish the three globetrotter with humorous stories and anecdotes that they intersperse between each song. Let yourself be tempted to "Cajun Rendezvous". Swing, Blues, Gospel, from Ellington to Elvis, full of energy and with the flair of the great old jazz singers, it features a concert with the US singer BRENDA BOYKIN.

 

BRENDA BOYKIN  one of the greatest jazz singers of our time. Her vocal range is extraordinary, their creativity and stage presence of the very first minute captivating. Lee Hildebrand (music critic and historian) said about it: ".. the most authentic and creative voice of this generation." She was in great jazz festivals including the Monterey Jazz Festival, San Francisco Blues Festival, the Umbria Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival (on which they 2005 was named best vocalist) and many other guests. In 1998 she received a nomination Bammy as "Best Vocalist of the Year". She played concerts and toured in Mexico, France, New Zealand, Japan and of course thousands of times in the US and Germany, where she has lived since of 2004. Will be accompanied Brenda Boykin of January Luley  with his trio, a pianist who go for over three decades as an artist is. More than 1500 concerts he played in 17 countries in Europe, Africa and the USA. By the end of 2009 he was pianist of the Frankfurt Barrelhouse Jazz Band. His stylistic diversity, his musical creativity and virtuosity make him one of the most exciting musicians of today."When you hear him play, then you hear his actually black New Orleans soul over the keys lawn, ..." the press wrote about him. 2013 celebrated its 30th anniversary on stage in January Luley.
 

Upcoming Music Festivals

WOLFGANG SCHMIDTKE  is in Bad Hersfeld the festival an old acquaintance. Concerts and CD releases, among other things present him with the rock drummer Ginger Baker, the jazz pianist Horace Parlan and the composer Karlheinz Stockhausen. Today he heads together with the Düsseldorf drummer Peter Weiss the "Jazz Pool NRW" and guested with this ensemble in the last four years among others in Paris, Moscow, Berlin, London, Krakow and Lisbon. 


For the Bad Hersfeld Festival Schmidtke wrote three musicals: Together with Judith Kuckart he wrote "Carmen - a German Musical". Born out of the collaboration with Gerold Theobalt "The Jungle Book" and "The Tempest".
