The most thrilling Balkan brass band this side of Vranjski Banja, Veveritse brings you the dramatic soaring melodies and insistent dance beats of Serbian-style brass and drums, all in the powerful delivery of 11 fearless... SQUIRRELS!

Veveritse Brass Band finds its inspiration in the drama of the Romany (Gypsy) music of the Balkans. With an eye to the powerful exactitude of these melodies, Veveritse makes room for play. Slippery, squirrelly even, they may start off running almost too fast, only to drop the bottom out; what begins sonorous and jagged straightens up, and carries you into the night....dancing, sighing. With two trumpets, a saxophone, four mid-horns, a tuba and two drummers, they are ten deep, creating not a wall of sound, but a loud tapestry. Members of the band also play in other great NYC bands like Romashka, Hungry March Band, Zlatne Uste, The Woes, Ansambl Mastika, and Stagger Back Brass Band....not to mention the infamous and nefarious Top Secret Attack Band!

Roanoke Public Libraries is thrilled to announce that through a merging of circumstances, Veveritse Brass Band, from Brooklyn, NYC, is playing a one-time show in Roanoke, at Roanoke Main Library! Monday, July 18, 6:30 p.m., Howery Mezzanine, Roanoke Main Library, Roanoke, 24016.

“The most thrilling Balkan brass band this side of Vranjski Banja, Veveritse brings you the most dramatic soaring melodies and insistent dance beats of Serbian-style brass and drums”.

It's gonna be so good! Put your dancing shoes on and come enjoy something it's likely Roanoke has never seen, heard or done before!
